A smooth upgrade from my previous Nokia E51

I charged up my shiny new Nokia E71 last night, and was eager to start using it right away. But first things first, I had to grab my data from my E51. Problem is, I already sold it a couple months back, and didn't have my original device.

Fortunately for me, I did do a Content Copier backup of the E51 before selling it (and reformatting it) so I dug around my hard drive for the backup from October, downloaded the latest Nokia PC Suite from the Nokia website, and then restored the data onto my new E71 via the USB cable. Almost everything came over - I was very relieved. My contacts, my calendar, my Active Notes, even my SMS messages all made their way to my new device. Now *that* is how every new phone purchase experience should be - a completely smooth upgrade path from one to the other. Kudos to Nokia for making this possible.

As a matter of fact, I experienced a seamless upgrade experience as well from my Nokia 6133 to the E51 originally, courtesy of Phone Switch, which I performed wirelessly via Bluetooth. No more lost friends or vital data just because of a new phone. :)
